Why are Raynor’s Raiders on a Dominion wiki?

Raynor’s Raiders are not a Dominion organization, but they are essential to understanding the Terran Dominion because Jim Raynor’s relationship with Arcturus Mengsk tracks the moral collapse of their early alliance.

How did Raynor and Mengsk become allies?

During the first StarCraft conflict, Raynor works with Mengsk and the Sons of Korhal against the Terran Confederacy. At that stage their goals overlap even though their values are already beginning to diverge.

Why did Raynor turn against Mengsk?

The decisive break comes around Tarsonis, where Mengsk uses the zerg against the Confederate capital and then abandons Sarah Kerrigan. Raynor rejects those decisions and becomes a long-term opponent of Mengsk’s regime.

What role do the Raiders play in StarCraft II?

By Wings of Liberty, Raynor’s Raiders operate as a major independent terran force. Their conflict with Mengsk provides much of the political background of the campaign, while Raynor later works with Valerian Mengsk on the plan involving Kerrigan and the Keystone.

Use the StarCraft story order for the full franchise sequence or the Dominion timeline for a Dominion-centered chronology.
